This was my first read from this author, it was a terrific story and the sexy cover really drew me in. Be mindful of graphic sex and abuse descriptions.
Danny comes from an abusive family while Mike grew up loved and cherished. After a chance meeting they learn to love and overcome all adversity to their relationship.
Once I started this book I could not put it down.
This is the kind of story I love of self discovery as they grow in their relationship. I did shed some tears and worried that their love may not conquer all.
Just beware that the content is sometimes difficult to read and you will not be disappointed in the fantastic story.

Please let there be a book 2 for this story!!

I loved this book. I really hope there is a part 2 to this story. The characters are great and all work well together. And the touches of humor had me laughing out loud while reading this! I would totally recommend this read for anyone tired of the same ol Zombie Apocalypse stories. This one is different and an awesome read! As I already said, can't wait for book two!!

...a motormouth convict, a teen sharpshooter, and a Sasquatch walk into New Hampshire...

When it comes to zombie apocalypse stories, we'd just about seen everything, read everything. It's a sub-genre that's now at a stage where execution is what matters most; it is mighty hard to put a fresh spin on them zombie tropes. Rich Restucci's Chaos Theory arrives with no fresh spin, but the execution is dope. The first person narration is courtesy of a wiseacre convict who's immune to the zombie plague. And that's my one of two grievances with this book, that Restucci - thru his smart-aleck narrator - tries too hard to be funny. The levity mostly hits but sometimes misses. It got so I didn't know whether I'd be chortling along or rolling my eyes.

The other nitpick is that, since our guy is impervious to zombie infection, I wanted gory, ghoulish scenes in which he gets seriously put thru the wringer, I mean, nasty freakin' zombie bites and gashes. And then I remembered he's still mortal. Enough blood loss and getting chomped on and he could die in normal fashion.

Huh. Just realized I don't know the convict's name; I don't think it ever comes up. Anyway, there isn't much direction to the story as the convict meets up with various folks and flees from place to place, finding out, time and again, that what promises to be safe haven isn't, really. It's not a knock but it is frustrating that, so often, we're made acquainted to new and promising characters only to have them promptly get bumped off. There are mainstay characters, other than our convict: a sharpshooting teenaged girl from New Hampshire and a mute, giant, genius survivalist named Ship. There's a chance that, written the wrong way, Ship the super-prepper would've come off as a Mary Sue. But damn if he isn't the most likable, most intriguing guy in the book and a unique character in his own right. But, yeah, he does end up cheating death more times than Jason Vorhees.

Chaos Theory takes place in the same universe as Restucci's debut novel, Run: A Post Apocalyptic Thriller, and Restucci has made known - on the Drinking with Jason podcast - his intent of eventually crossing over the casts from these two books. With regards to his writing career, Restucci dubs himself a hobbyist, seeing as how he's a full-time chemist and that's the gig what pays the bills. But I think he's got the goods. He's already a very good storyteller who can only improve even more the more time he devotes to his part-time craft. He mentioned in that same podcast that he deliberately made the convict as sort of a hapless goof because he wanted to write an arc in which the guy grows into his skills set. Chaos Theory is a fast read with an irreverent protagonist. It drops helpful hints at prepping for doomsday (courtesy of Ship). It is relentless and copious with its frenzied zombie kills. And since the pace careens like a runaway freight train, there's barely enough time for character development. As ever, in a zombie apocalypse, the real threat is your fellow man. The way the story ends simply begs for a sequel. I wish for this writer to drop his alchemy potions in his creepy laboratory and whip out the follow-up already.

Horror & Humor- A Must Read!

Rich Restucci has done it again. He has written a novel that is at once as visceral as it is entertaining. Chaos Theory: A Zombie Novel introduces us to a motley group of characters whose lives cross paths during extreme apocalyptic duress. The three main protagonists are immensely likable, and there is no doubt you will be cheering them on as they try to survive. Rich Restucci has the uncanny ability to blend horror and humor in ways that keep me coming back for more. His amazing perspective of what life might be like when humanity meets its greatest challenge- the zombie plague, will certainly have both fans of the genre and newcomers alike hooked on his writing. Chaos Theory: A Zombie Novel by Rich Restucci is a must read and will make an excellent addition to every horror fan’s bookcase.

good intro book

This book was designed for a training class. You can read it front to back and get a good introduction to data storage technology. If you already have experience or training, this book will be too basic for you.

Coming from Hitachi, most examples feature that company's products. And many sections seem like they were originally written in another language (probably Japanese). As a result, I had to read the same passage multiple times, and work around grammatical errors, in order to get the meaning.

Carol H Rounds is lecturer in Hungarian and has been teaching at Columbia University since 1988. Previous titles include Hungarian:An Essential Grammar, another in the Routledge language series.

I am a second-year Hungarian student who this summer had the opportunity to study in Budapest with Erika Solyom. Before finding the book (and Professor Solyom), I bounced through a variety of materials: an old US State Department coursebook, a few grammars, a Teach Yourself course, and an audio course from Pimmsler. Everything I tried seemed to be missing something fundamental. The grammars excluded, all the more pedagogically-oriented materials I tried were either too analytic, grounded in a rote militaristic logic of drills and tiring repetition, or too soft, focused only on building the capacity to speak at a basic, I-just-landed-and-can-greet-the-customs-officer level. I'm not saying these materials weren't helpful. They were, each in their own way. But none succeeded in bringing together so seamlessly all the requisite components of language learning as Colloquial Hungarian. For me, finding the book changed everything.

Suddenly, learning Hungarian not only seemed attainable, it was fun. The book's bedrock is a story, unfolded through dialogues (available on CD and excellent) and centered in the lives of a handful of colorful characters that, I admit, I grew quite attached to. I think this is something unique in a language-learning book. Is it corny, funny, cute? Maybe so. But it works wonderfully to get you more invested in the material; at least it did for me. The grammar unfolds in a manageable, brick-by-brick way, and it encourages you to focus on one thing at a time, to seek out patterns, and to build and build at a slow pace that assures you won't get burned out, feel hopeless, or give up altogether.

Learning Hungarian is already hard. Why make it harder? If you want a book that empowers you as a language learner, that leaves you feeling like you can do this, like you ARE doing this, buy Colloquial Hungarian. Believe me, I've tried many others, and this is hands down the best.

Brings an impossible language within reach.

I studied from Erika Solyom's book while studying in Budapest, Hungary. For me, learning the Hungarian language seemed to be a very intimidating task, but Colloquial Hungarian made the process much easier, even fun. The characters, dialogues, cultural items and poetry included in the book expose the reader to Hungarian culture which helped me have a deeper understanding of the Hungarian lanuage. I strongly recommend this book.

Great Starter

The first two things everybody asked me when I told them I was going to be studying in Budapest for a semester were "Wait, are you going to actually LEARN Hungarian?" and "Isn't that one of the hardest languages ever?"
After taking the class for just one semester and having the opportunity to learn from this book in particular, I can say that it was a lot easier than I imagined. As Markus said, each new section builds on the last, which really helps to solifidy your base knowledge with each new unit. While I would change the order just slightly (putting things like numbers closer to the beginning), I can definitely say that without this book (and the great instruction that went along with it), I would have been lost for the entire semester. Unlike other books I've seen for the language, this one actually shows you the logic behind a lot of the grammar - something that comes in handy when you encounter a new word. At only half-way through the book, you begin to be able to distinguish what parts of speech foreign words belong to and even be able to somewhat discern what the basic idea of the text is.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone trying to learn Hungarian.

Very Nice Intro

This is a very good introduction to the field of space nuclear power. The authors provide adequate background material and include discussion and simple mathematical analysis methods to promote understanding of the various topics; e.g., neutronics, shielding, heat transport and rejection, and safety. Major programs are discussed in sufficient detail and technical issues are enumerated and discussed. The book is well written and easy to follow. Some of the latter chapters, however, are not as cleanly organized as the early chapters. Nonetheless, the book is concise, clear and essentially unique in its coverage of the diverse field of space nuclear power.

The prose in this book is well-written and easy to read, a blessing given how indigestibly ponderous most textbooks are, even when they're expressing otherwise simple ideas. It's what the text says and doesn't say that's at issue.

On the Middle East, for example, the text notes that Palestinians "migrated or fled" during the 1948 war. Fair enough, it's an attempt not to take sides regarding the wildly different narratives of this event, a tragedy in the lives of 600,000 people. But the text does not even mention that at the same time, in direct response to the founding of Israel, 800,000 Jews in Arab Middle Eastern countries were expelled from these countries. That's a strange omission in a book on human geography. At another point in the book we read that from 1917 to 1948, when Palestine was under the British Mandate, the British ENCOURAGED Jewish immigration to Palestine. I guess that's why so many Jews, fleeing death from the Nazis with nothing but the clothes on their backs, were forced to risk their lives again, trying to land on the beach in the middle of the night from leaky ships out of Cyprus. The immigration quotas imposed on Jews during the British Mandate are a historical fact. I don't know enough about other areas of the world to critique what the text says about them----it would be interesting to hear from other reviewers--but with this level of omission and inaccuracy, can I trust anything else the book says?

In addition, a glance through the book reveals other errors and confusions. Page 4: What are the units for the Gross National Income in the map? US dollars? Or is this a relative scale? Page 14-15: 90% or over of what?? 90% of Calfiornia students said they'd prefer to live in California? California received an approval rating of 90% or over as a place to live? Page 40: The world population distribution says that "1 dot represents 100,000 people". Note that there is ONE dot in the vicinity of, I guess, Calgary and none in the vicinity of Edmonton--both cities now have about a million people, so they should have about 10 dots each, no? And this is just in the first 40 pages.

This book was supposed to be released in December 2005, but there were delays and I received the book only yesterday. There should have been time to pick up mistakes like the above.

EXCELLENT TEXTBOOK!!!

I wanted to take the Human Geography AP Exam but we didn't have a course at our school so I had to study for it on my own. As there are no published AP guides, my only source of information was this textbook. I not only scored a 5 on the exam, but I also tested out of the second semester of Human Geography once I got to college as well!! Fabulous textbook!

I want to thank God for annointing Terri to write such a profound book. The book is straight up and truth and based strictly off the WORD! I had been searching for an answer as to why i feel the way feel and the reason why i cant seem to break free from this man ( not knowing what a soul tie truly was before reading this book). This book has opened my eyes and actually tells you what you need to do to be free once and for all... God truly answers prayers and is ALWAYS on time!!!! Thank you again Terri and God Bless You!!!

I choose 5stars for this because it is just that ans more. This book has shown in a very simple way how to concor something that we all go through yet we always feel so along in the process. I would recommend this book to anyone who is having a difficult to in letting go of their bad soul tie. It is so necessary.

Svetlana Iosifovna Alliluyeva (1926-2011), later known as Lana Peters, was the youngest child and only daughter of Joseph Stalin and Nadezhda Alliluyeva, Stalin's second wife. In 1967, she defected and became a naturalized citizen of the United States until 1984 when she returned to the Soviet Union. Her first book, Twenty Letters to a Friend, caused a sensation. "The last hours were nothing but a slow strangulation. The death agony was horrible. He literally choked to death as we watched. At what seemed like the very last moment he suddenly opened his eyes and cast a glance over everyone in the room. It was a terrible glance, insane or perhaps angry and full of fear of death and the unfamiliar faces of the doctors bent over him. The glance swept over everyone in a second. Then something incomprehensible and awesome happened that to this day I can't forget and don't understand. He suddenly lifted his left hand as though he was pointing to something above and bringing down a curse on us all. The gesture was incomprehensible and full of menace, and no one could say to whom or at what it might be directed. The next moment after a final effort, the spirit wrenched itself free of the flesh."
This exact scene was played out in the movie with Robert De Nero portraying Stalin. And I must say he captured the drama and intensity just as it was written.

In my humble opinion, this is a Great Russian Tragic Novel provided for us by the soft spoken daughter of a giant of infamy.

Her father was one of the most powerful and nefarious men in all history. Her mother:
"It was not the thing at that time for a woman, especially a woman Party member, to spend much time with her children ... I cannot recall her kissing or caressing me ever ... My nurse saw that it was so, that my mother was really tired of being alive. But it never occurred to her or to anybody else that she was capable of taking her own life within a matter of days."

Svetlana was clearly a sensitive but lonely child. She was lost in this world but yet it was her world. She loved her mother dearly. Her mother killed herself at age 31. She could no longer follow blindly behind the man she had chosen to love. As it seems with Papa Joe, it was his way or a bullet to the brain - administered by yourself or an "assistant."

Her brother tried to shoot himself but failed - which made Papa Joe laugh - a boy too inept to even complete a successful suicide. Papa Joe's little boy eventually died of alcoholism.

Her mother's sister and her husband were sent to prison. Her daddy had no mercy even for those in his own family. Papa Joe was austere with himself and his own.

"Once he had cast out of his heart someone he had known a long time, once he had mentally relegated that someone to the ranks of his enemies, it was impossible to talk to him about that person any more."
Before killing herself, her mother wrote a letter of "resignation" to big Joe, the author explains. Joe went to take one last look at his bride in her coffin. He stared, then pushed the coffin away from him. He didn't attend her funeral - she had become the enemy, even dead.

This is quite an outstanding historical portrait. The author writes beautifully - clearly she has the hand and the heart of a poet.

The book is one harsh, unbelievable tale after another told with sensitivity, clarity and compassion. The author brings us into the book as friends. She wrote these letters to her friends and then left it as such for us all when the book was picked up by the world. This was extremely appealing.

Many historical Russian characters are talked about - the hated Mr. Beria among the foremost. She closes her book courageously, in the spirit of the eternal optimist:

"This is how I would like to end my letters to you my dear friend ... Let the judging be done by those who come later ... let it be left to new people to whom these years in Russia will be as remote and inexplicable, as terrible and strange, as the reign of Ivan the Terrible. But I do not think they'll call our era a `progressive one' or that they will say it was all for the 'good of Russia'. Hardly ...
"But I hope they won't forget that what is Good never dies - That it lived on in the hearts of men even in the darkest times and was hidden where no one thought to look for it, that it never died out or disappeared completely.
"Everything on our tormented earth that is alive and breathes, that blossoms and bears fruit, lives only by virtue of and in the name of Truth and Good."

Lyrical and beautifully written

Svetlana was the daughter of Stalin. I think most people who buy this book already know that so I don't think I am spoiling anything. I wasn't aware because it was just the next book to read in my project of reading biographies A-Z in my local library.

As I read, she kept mentioning this powerful and fear inspiring father but his name wasn't on the book cover or inside flap description and since the format of the book isn't like a biography with lots of names and dates I couldn't figure out who this guy was and was somewhat skeptical, thinking really, just how scary can your dad be, then I read Stalin and understood she wasn't exaggerating.

This is not a typical memoir. It is a series of memories written in a beautiful and lyrical manner. It is compelling and after reading, it remains haunting somewhat.

It is not hard facts and details and makes you want to know more and understand more.

Would also recommend: Svetlana an Intimate Portrait by Enzo Biagi and Svetlana: The Incredible Story of Stalin's Daughter by Martin Ebon and her next book Only One Year. All help fill in many of the gaps in 20 Letters and also reveal Svetlana to be a complex and troubled person. Unfortunately they are from the late 60's and apparently there is quite a bit more that happened in her troubled life after these books.

Twenty Letters to a Friend

This is a well translated history of Stalin personal life from her own perspective written using the literature style of writing letters to a friend, which are sketches depicting her relationship with her father at different stages of her life. The first one depicts the death of Stalin in which she vividly describes the dynamics between Stalin associate (Beria etc...)
I have the opportunity to own some of the letters she wrote to her editor written in English and it sound that she is a stickler for details, which makes these accounts most believable.
This book offers a unique opportunity to see a different facet of Stalin personality from her perspective as a child and her coming to age. The book gives account of the discovery of her father true personality, which she started to uncover after the tragic death of her mother and subsequent distancing of herself and her father.
